The Nutritional Value of Bird Nest

  1. Bird’s nest mainly contains water-soluble proteins, carbohydrates and mineral such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, sodium and potassium. It also contains some essential amino acids ( lysine, cystine and arginine ) that play an important role in promoting human vitality.
  2. The most important nutrient of bird nest is sialic acid which can help to improve brain development of fetus, the intelligent and memory of student, reduce the Alzheimer’s Disease and Amnesia problem of elders.
  3.  Bird’s nest contains unique components, a large number of biologically active molecules and essential hormones and epidermal growth factors that promote cell division. It can help the growth and development of human tissues and increase recovery from injury.

Bird’s Nest Cooking Instructions

  1. Soak the bird’s nest in RO water. The amount of water needed can be measured  as the water is covering the whole bird’s nest. Different types of bird’s nest will have different soaking times.
    * Cup bird’s nest: 6 hours and above
    * Stripe bird’s nest: 3-6 hours
    * Flake bird’s nest: 1-2 hours
  2. Wash the soaked bird’s nest with flowing water, tear the soaked bird’s nest into small strips, and push the horns into small pieces. Pour into a colander and rinse it with flowing water for several times. If there are obvious feathers manually remove them to ensure that they are clean. 
    (Note: A small amount of fine feathers remaining in the washed nest is normal and does not affect the consumption.)
  3. Pour the washed bird’s nest into the stew pot, add RO water and submerge the bird’s nest with a little water.
  4. Stewing time: 70 minutes for electric stew pot (100w); 45 minutes for electric pot (250w); 30 minutes for electric stew pot (300w); 25 minutes for gas equipment.

  1. No additive herb or ingredient suggested  to be added during stewing in order to make sure the bird’s nest nutrients are fully protected. Everything that needs to be added only it had been cooked.
  2. When bird’s nest cooked, take it out immediately from stewing pot to avoid overcooked. Bird’s nest will turn into water if overheated and in warming function.
